Great South Indian restaurant. Remains closed on Wednesday. The place is known to have brought the South Indian food for the first time in Udaipur. It is the oldest South Indian restaurant in Udaipur and has maintained its taste. It's known for the authentic taste in South Indian food. When there weren't many restaurants in Udaipur, Purohit Cafe was the place Udaipurites used to flock to. It's more about the emotion of people of Udaipur rather than anything else. This place still remains heavily crowded in evening. Food: 5/5 Taste, quality, quantity, aunthenticity, everything is perfect. Service: 5/5 Pretty quick. They usually take 5-10 mins to serve. Ambience: 5/5 More like a traditional dining hall of a good court. But that's as per the price this place asks for. ~ Anshul M

We were on our way to Udaipur stn and had a train to catch within an hour. We searched online and called Purohit Cafe and requested to give us a table asap due to time constraints. We shared our live location n Mr Purohit assured us of the table and we already placed the order on WA. It was our very first visit to Purohit Cafe and the experience was just wow. They had kept the table ready as soon as we reached the food was served hot and fresh. Extremely well managed Staff and the good quality was too good. I go here often to eat, all the dosas here are tasty which is I tried. I love the paper and masal dosa here it was absolute perfection. The batter was expertly fermented, resulting in a golden-brown, paper-thin crispness that held up beautifully. Crucially, it was served piping hot—the ideal temperature for maximum enjoyment. The accompanying sambar was rich, complex, and clearly simmered for hours, and the two varieties of fresh chutney were vibrant and perfectly balanced. The service was swift and friendly, even during the lunch rush. Everything tasted authentic, fresh, and genuinely spectacular. If you’re searching for the ultimate dosa experience, look no further. This place has stood the test of time due to its consistent quality and generous quantity. On weekdays, there's usually a waiting time of 30 minutes, so you can imagine the crowd on weekends! The service is fast, and the unlimited chutney and sambar are a big hit. The dosas are large, tasty, and perfect for quickly filling your tummy. Chutney and sambar are crowd favorites, and the staff does an excellent job of continuously refilling them. The starters were delicious too, and the prices are very reasonable. Purohit cafe is a very famous restaurant of South Indian food in Udaipur Rajasthan. It is located near Lake City Mall University road. Here you can have South Indian cuisine. You can have dosa utpan idli vada sambar chutney medu vada rasam and filter coffee. This is the perfect place for South Indian specially Dosa lover. This place has large number for Indore sitting. We tried different verities of dosa Idly and uttapam. We tried Idli vada sambhar, tomato Uthappam, Rava paneer Maysour masala dosa, steam idli, Ghee podi idli, Rava pudina, plain dosa, Paneer dosa, Butter Rava Maysour masala dosa, Bhelpuri. A good space for family dining. Me and my younger brother went for dinner. We ordered paper Masala dosa. The chatni and masala is free if you want more. Point to be noted - When you entering the restaurant, the gaurd greet you. When you sit on the table then serving staff greet you Jai Shree Ram. They have lots of variety of south Indian food. Forever amazing!! A pure vegetarian restaurant with an exceptional taste in South Indian dishes maintained since 1987. Surely recommended. Sometimes they do take booking on call, but this restaurant never gets empty, hence they deny for call bookings usually. I have newly moved to Udaipur from southern India and have been desperately looking for some authentic restaurant for South Indian food like Dosa and Idly. This restaurant happens to be awesome 🤩 for South Indian variety of cuisine. The taste is amazing with many types of chutney. Service is very quick without much waiting and warm food. Superb food. Family restaurant, authentic south Indian food. Fast service. They have huge variety of dosas, Thatte idly , which is hardly available anywhere else, uttapam, hot n gold beverages. Just one thing is missing, variety of Rice preparations like Curd rice, lemon rice, tamarind rice, rasam rice etc. As for freshness n quality I give them 5 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟. ~ Pooja G

We had filter coffee, paper masala dosa, idli, masala dosa and everything was fabulous. We were unsure if we would get good South Indian food but the food blew our minds. Highly recommended. Surprised to find authentic South Indian food in Udaipur. I am south indian and can vouch for their sambhar, podi, and chutneys. Tried their ghee podi islie, paper mysore masala dosa, rava masala dosa, Uthappa and pudina masala dosa. I would rate it 10 on 5 if maths permitted. A1 filter coffee. Must try! ~ Hriticka C

The best place for south Indian food in udaipur. It's located in a commercial building so parking your 2/4 wheeler is not a problem. If you are planning it in weekend then must pre book it . Coming from South India was sceptical of having idli, dosa or vada here in North. But Purohit cafe is a different one altogether. Did feel like having one of the best dosa and idli.
